  1. Commercial Driver’s License  
  2. 21 Years of Age 
  3. GED or high school diploma
  4. Insurable by the Board of Education’s insurance carrier. 

How to Apply: 

  1. Fill out a support personnel application with JCS 
  2. Study for commercial driver’s license 
  3. Make an appointment to take the following CDL tests (205.387.0511) 
    1. General knowledge 
    2. Air brake 
    3. Passenger 
  4. Obtain SDE Security Clearance/Criminal Background Check 
    1. Go online to to register 
    2. Select the following information 
      1. Alabama 
      2. Department of Education 
      3. Registration – Register online 
      4. Electronic Signature for Affidavit 
      5. Application Type – Employment in a Classified Position 
      6. Institute – Public  
      7. School District – Jasper City 
      8. Driver’s License information 
      9. Have a credit card for payment for background check 
      10. Fill out personal information 
      11. Answer questions 
      12. Choose UPS Store in Jasper for Finger Printing 
        1. Print the online registration receipt 
        2. Take receipt to UPS Store in Jasper, AL 
  5. Turn in the following information to Jasper City Board of Education 
    1. Completed Application 
    2. Three letters of reference 
    3. Receipt from UPS stating fingerprints have been successfully captured 
    4. Driver’s License 
    5. Social Security Card 
  6. JCS will schedule training for you (4 hours minimum) 
  7. JCS Will schedule you to attend a New Bus Driver School (12 Hours) 
  8. Pass Written School Bus Driver’s examination 
  9. Pass Pre-Trip Vehicle inspection performance test 
  10. Pass Road Test with State Department of Education
  11. Pass Pre-employment drug screening
  12. Attend Orientation to JCS
